Skulptur i cortenstål, Källby park, Götene kommun.

En vanlig syn på våren och sommaren är att marken kring Källby täcks av lysande gula rapsfält. På väg mot Kinnekulle känns det som en inramning, en början, att man går in i en ny värld. Man skulle kunna tro att den odlades bara för att ge oss denna upplevelse, men anledningen är oljan, ett grundläggande livsmedel.

Rapsen berikar våra liv med sin färg. Den pollineras av bin, en ekosystemtjänst som ger honung och som bidrar till biodiversitet.

Verket visar rapsens olika stadier genom blomman. Blomman är den vuxna växt, som bär fröet till nästa generation. Min blomma representerar alla utvecklingsstadier.

Konstverket är i cortenstål, för färgen, som likt de riktiga rapsfälten lyser upp omgivningen. Precis som en levande växt genomgår cortenstålet förändring. Den får en patina som av sig själv blir vackrare med tiden.

Platsen är dynamisk på det sätt att många människor rör sig där, en plats de kommer till och som de lämnar. Kronbladet pekar i de fyra väderstreckens riktning, som en orienteringspunkt för människor i rörelse.

Skulpturen bidrar till att ge området karaktären av en träffplats, ett centrum. Den är en förskönande färgklick som spelar mot parkens gröna nyanser.

Blomman representerar tillväxt och allt den ger.

 A common sight in the spring and summer is that the ground around Källby is covered by bright yellow rapeseed fields. On the way to Kinnekulle, it gives the impression of a framing, a beginning, that you are about to enter a new world. One might think that it was cultivated just to give us this experience, but the reason is oil, a basic food.

Rapeseed enriches our lives with its color. It is pollinated by bees, an ecosystem service that provides honey and contributes to biodiversity.

The work shows the different stages of rapeseed through the flower. The flower is the adult plant that carries the seed to the next generation. My flower represents all stages of development.

The artwork is in corten steel, for the color, which like the real rapeseed fields lights up the surroundings. Just like a living plant, corten steel undergoes change. It gets a patina that by itself becomes more beautiful with time.

The place is dynamic in the sense that many people are in motion there, a place they come to and that they leave. The petals point in accordance with the four directions, as a landmark for people in motion.

The sculpture helps to give the area the character of a meeting place, a center. It is a conciliatory color click that plays against the green shades of the park.

The flower represents growth and all that it give.
